PROJECT REBUILD

PREVIOUS TENANTS

death in winter

move a little in ceaseless cold

with unnatural oaks,

diseased snow

terrified leaves tearing themselves

from taunting wood

in a forest sheetless, abominable trees;

they are not in this house

with its curious pines surrounding

unaffordable warmth

for my family in a winter's death;

nothing at all is grown

in this stranglehold of ice
