PROJECT REBUILD

PREVIOUS TENANTS

We tiled.

We painted.
We took ideas from Home Depot in secret.
We hoped that our bedroom would be a depiction of us.
We created a life and expected perfection.
We exchanged nonsense about our future together.
We talked of travelling, exploring the world and the depths of each other's minds.

Look! Look at me. I have always been here!

(but you don't look because you're not there).

We made pancakes on sunny Sundays.
We kissed over coffee at the counter.
We liked rom coms and fairy tales and happy endings,
We might have thought we were one for a time. A happy ending.

We aren't sure when things fell apart, but maybe they were never together?
We tricked ourselves.

(Don't. Look at me.)

(It is too late to look now. I'm gone too.)
