PROJECT REBUILD

PREVIOUS TENANTS

Corners

We threw glasses,

cut corners,
smashed lips

on the sofas,

burning sandalwood's magic
unraveling auburn hair,

mattress stogies, creased-sheet stories,
upending each other to lick away the traces

our cars sat out in front of the house,

poor horses forced off-course,

racing to reach their little deaths.

RENOVATE THIS POEM

BIO:
Diane Tucker grew up on a street of non-Vancouver Specials next to a shiny new block of Vancouver Specials she always thought were castles. Marni and Angela lived in Vancouver Specials. She wanted one, too, preferably one with plaster lions in front of it. Now renovating will have to be enough.
