PROJECT REBUILD

PREVIOUS TENANTS

Restoration

It's three quarters of a mil for a teardown,
just this side of East/West. There aren't many
specials--kid sister limping after her heritage.
Irrelevant now, questions of lawnmowers,
or Korean girls in the lower, practicing violins.
In Cambie Village, the grass is brown
with demolition. Heritage houses huddle

away from backhoes, hold steady through
jackhammer staccato, tend to cedar splinters.
For them, a question of what to restore and
what to replace, while potential buyers ask
for a high enough ceiling: Can we gut the attic
and build a roof made of glass?
