STRIPPED TO THE NOUN;
READY FOR REBUILDING

You attempt beauty, a poor

indication. The responses

create more questions.

My family knows the equation.

we take a loan

we work the land

I say ‘we’

elsewhere I should say ‘me’.

My home, they hate it.

Dead flowers grace the lawn,
stucco

creates uneven surfaces. Bits of
my

reflection in the wood, the veneer.

A forest fell

And they plant trees in the city.

Oh, you’ll try more east?
